Rabbit Hole on Mars - Day 5.1 (Nov 5) 395 words
Chapter 5.1
The rabbit rolled its way down the
hilltop to Opportunity. Stopping a few feet away and lent down to
draw something in the sand with one of it's fingers.
Brian had to ensure he dominated the
room, “He's drawing something! What's he drawing? Looks like a
triangle. Are we looking for a pyramid?!”
“A second triangle,” Scott said.
“Two pyramids? Donna do we have
anything in the area that represents two pyramids side by side?”
“What's with the inverted v between
the two triangles?”
“Donna is this symbol anywhere on
Mars?”
“No Brian, it's on your phone,”
Donna said.
“What the hell are you talking
about? I don't have an app for hieroglyphics.”
“No, but you've got Bluetooth.”
“Bluetooth?! What the hell is
Bluetooth?”
“It's for synching wireless
devices.”
“Do we have Bluetooth on the rover?”
Brian demanded.
Scott scanned the list of programs
currently running Opportunity, “No, we'd have to update the
software on the rover.”
“Get me some Goddamn Bluetooth!”
The rabbit drew numbers next to the
Bluetooth symbol.
25
Agent Kantpis spoke out loud for the
group, “Twenty Five what?”
Next came a word that shook everyone
in the room.
days
“We've got 25 days until something
happens,” Just Joe said to the group, “Is that a good thing or a
bad thing?”
Brian tried to keep everyone calm,
“Let's hope that it's going to be a good thing.”
The rabbit pulled a small magnet out
of his gear box and set it onto the left side of his chest. It was a
white magnet with black letters that read, “Frank.”
“HOLY SHIT,” Scott said as he
zoomed in on the rabbit's chest to make sure he was reading the
magnet right.
Everyone looked up at the screen and
saw the name.
“No efing way,” Donna said in
shock, “We're in trouble guys.”
“Anybody want to clue me in here?”
Brian demanded.
“I'll take a clue too,” Kantpis
said.
Scott stood up and turned around, “In
twenty five days, the world ends.”
Brian pounded his fist on a table,
“Our world on Mars or our world here?!”
“How the hell do you know that?”
Kantpis asked.
“That's Frank the rabbit. From
Donnie Darko.”
