Rabbit Hole on Mars - Day 13 (Nov 13) 384 words
Chapter 13
The song ended, but no one moved. All
eyes at the NASA facility were on the rabbit rolling off into the
distance.
“Game plan is changing everybody,”
Brian said, “As far as I'm concerned we've got seventeen days until
our time on Mars comes to an abrupt end. Frankie's controller hasn't
told us otherwise, so we need to assume our end is pending. Kantpis
and Joe, what are your thoughts?”
Joe looked at Kantpis who nodded for
him to say his next words, “We have been triangulating on several
locations based on Minecraft users, Donnie Darko streamers and now
those who have bought a faulty refrigerator. We need a few more
specifics to slip during conversations. Once we feel we have really
narrowed it down, we will conduct several raids.”
“Raids?!” Donna asked
“Teams are ready for addresses we
provide them and then we will conduct a raid after raid, hopefully
one of them will reveal the rabbit maker.”
“You plan on raiding a few homes?”
“A few dozen actually. Of course we
want to have more certainty before we pick the date to conduct raids,
but time is going to run out.”
Scott interjected, “Donna, is
Frankie still working on the labyrinth?”
Donna pulled up a real time satellite
pic, “Yes and he's not slowing down, that's for sure.”
“Can you calculate our drive time to
the top of the hill for Opportunity verses the drive time the rabbit
has back to our corral?”
Donna crunched some numbers, “I see
what you're doing. Yes, if we go up to the hilltop to get Frankie's
attention, he won't return to us until we are back in our corral he
built for us.”
“What are you guys scheming over
there?” Brian demanded.
Scott laughed to himself, “Martian
rebellion.”
